Context

As part of a global initiative, airports and airlines across the MENA and near east regions required a system to standardise and formalise auditing of security and complaince proceedures.

The challenge was to digitize and standardize airport auditing—bringing together multiple stakeholders (airport authorities, international consultants, military, and security experts) under strict regulatory and security constraints.

Approach

Outcome Alignment:

  • Worked with all stakeholders to clarify that the core business objective was not audit volume or speed, but the generation of actionable, standardized PDF reports to be submitted to Airport Authorities.
  • Used “Jobs To Be Done” and objective-based prioritization to cut scope to only those features directly supporting compliance and certification.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Facilitated workshops and regular calls to review trade-offs and build consensus.
  • Navigated complex requirements from both international aviation compliance and local military authorities.

User Experience Design (UX & UI):

  • Replaced error-prone manual processes with an intuitive digital system that captured audit inputs, standardized scoring, and allowed instant performance comparisons across airports and over time.

Execution

  • Led requirements gathering and mapped workflows from manual to digital.
  • Prioritized core audit and reporting features, with non-critical items parked for later roadmap iterations.
  • Designed and implemented real-time audit input, data validation, and automated PDF report generation.
  • Conducted user training and onboarding with diverse international teams, including local authorities.

Outcome

  • Significant increase in audit clarity and compliance scores across participating airports.
  • Launched tool enabled airports to retain international certifications and address audit findings proactively.
  • Product adoption expanded to other countries organically and via targeted LinkedIn marketing.
  • Reduced manual effort and errors for auditors, enabling faster feedback and standardized performance tracking.

Tools & Frameworks Used

  • Custom web application (HTML, CSS, React)
  • PDF report generation engine
  • Secure data storage
  • Zoom, Trello (collaboration and project management)

Capabilities Demonstrated

  • Primary: Product Ownership
  • Secondary: Design, Strategy, Optimization

Key Learnings

  • True product ownership means aligning every decision to the core business outcome, not just building features for their own sake.
  • In complex, multi-stakeholder environments, clear communication and objective-based prioritization are critical for consensus and progress.
  • Building for “actionable insight” (not just digitalization) ensures sustained adoption and measurable impact.
